In October this year our own Ben Parkhill and Rob Glover will set off on a 7 day charity event known as the “Shitbox Rally”. For those unfamiliar with the Shitbox Rally, it’s a long-distance motoring event run in Australia as a fundraiser for cancer research charities. The event is officially endorsed and supported by the Cancer Council.

The challenge faced by Ben and Rob is to drive a car only worth $1,000 across numerous dirt tracks and river crossings. Only 2WD drive cars are allowed on the rally, so Ben will need to leave his 4WD Landcruiser at home. The journey will see the boys’ drive 3342kms from Mackay to Darwin via Savannah Way. Of a night time they will camp in harsh terrain with the risk of being attacked by snakes, crocodiles and the good old “Aussie drop-bears”  All of this is in good fun, but more importantly in the name of charity.

Many of us have been affected by cancer in one way or another. Between now and the rally in October we are starting to fundraise. All donations count, big or small and are 100% tax deductible. We would really appreciate your support. Please be sure to leave some words of encouragement or travel tips for the boys when making a donation. We don’t believe either of them do much camping, so they will need all of the advice they can get!

Over the coming months we will learn more about their vehicle of choice and if either of the boys have any camping or mechanical car experience. Thank you for reading and stay tuned for the next update!
